Colonel Lawrence: The Man Behind The Legend
This is a First Edition, and was presented by the Author to H.W. Nevinson with the following inscription:
"To H.W. Nevinson,
also a spirit of freedom incarnate - this tribute of admiration & affection.
From B.H. Liddell Hart
1st May 1934"
Nevinson was a British war correspondent in the Second Boer War, and World War One; also a political commentator and a suffragist. He studied at Shrewsbury School and Christchurch Oxford. He also studied in Germany. In the 1880s he had become a prominent socialist.
This is one of the earliest biographies of Lawrence and thus merits attention.
