1st Baron Tweedsmuir John Buchan

Buchan's most famous work was probably "The 39 Steps" but his literary accomplishments went well beyond spy thrillers. Buchan was also, apparently, a Lieutenant-Colonel. He was co-opted for war work. Later he was famous also for being a Unionist politician; he served as Governor-General of Canada as well.
