Captain Alban B. Butler Jr.
Butler was an aide to General Charles Summerall, who commanded the U.S. 1st Division in France. He was a Yale graduate who was in the oil business in Oklahoma when the War began. He had been an amateur cartoonist at Yale.
Butler was obviously an American version of Bairnsfather. His cartoons are very decriptive of the different aspects of the War, especially the progress of the U.S. 1st Division.
