Gary Staff
Staff was a former airline pilot, but had been fascinated with naval history and specifically the Imperial German Navy. Before his book on Jutland, he had written a number of books on the subject. He lived in Australia.
Because of his deep interest in the ships of the Imperial German Navy, Staff had travelled extensively in Germany, visiting various Archives and meeting relatives of the protagonists. This also led to his wonderful book on the German Battle Cruisers.
