Professor Sir Walter Raleigh

Raleigh was born in 1861. He was a scholar, poet and author. He was Professor of English Literature at The University of Glasgow, and Professor of English Literature at The University of Oxford. On the outbreak of the war he turned to the war as his first interest. The History of The War in The Air was intended to be the first in a two volume series, but he died before he could start the second volume. (He died of typhoid which he contracted during a trip to the Near East).
