Norman Wilkinson R.I., C.B.E.
Wilkinson was a British artist who usually worked in oils, watercolours and dry point. He was primarily a marine painter but was also an illustrator and poster artist. He was born in 1878, and died in 1971. It was Wilkinson who invented "dazzle painting" to camouflage merchant shipping during the war.
