Major R. Money Barnes

Barnes was born in 1897. The "Money" part of his name was his mother's maiden name. He served in the war from 1914, in the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, first as a Second Lieutenant in the 6th Battalion, then at the same rank but rising to Lieutenant, in the 2nd Battalion, until August 1917 when he transferred to the 1st Battalion, 21st Punjabis in the Indian Army, where he stayed, rising to the rank of captain, until 1925. During World War Two he rejoined the Ox and Bucks L.I. as a captain, rising to major. He died in 1979. He wrote a number of books about the organisation of, mainly, the British Army.
