George S. Duncan
Duncan was born in Forfar in 1884. He was the son of a tailor's cutter. In 1915, he was ordained to the ministry of the Church of Scotland and became an army chaplain. In 1919, he succeeded to the Chair of Biblical Criticism at the University of St. Andrews. His work on the New Testament field brought him an international reputation and in 1948 her became President of the Society for New Testament Studies.
