Lieutenant-General Nicholas N. Golovine
Golovine was a Lieutenant-General in the Imperial Russian Army. He was born in 1875 and after graduating from the Military Academy, he began his military service with the Horse Artillery of the Imperial Guard. He graduated from the Russian General Staff College in 1900 and joined the General Staff Corps in 1901. He was a Professor with the General Staff College between 1907 and 1913 and during that time spent some time at the Ecole Superieure de Guerre in Paris.
During the war he held a number of high appointments in the Army. He survived the war.
He was a frequent author of papers, studies and books, both before and after the war.
