Professor Ian H. Nish
Nish was a Senior Lecturer in International History at the London School of Economics and Political Science at the time of writing his book on Anglo-Japanese relations (q.v.) but rose to Emeritus Professor.
He was educated at the University of Edinburgh and then took his doctorate at SOAS. He then spent some years at the University of Sydney before returning to the U.K>
He was an acknowledged expert on Anglo-Japanese relations.
