This is a valuable book on a little known run-on from the war. It deals with what happened in some detail: the author actually took part in the campaign. The history of the previous Afghan Wars is addressed, and then the author describes the course of the campaign in a clear, if somewhat dated, manner. (The book was published in 1962 but it seems entirely possible that it was written significantly earlier than that).
