Johhny Enzed: The New Zealand Soldier in the First World War, 1914 - 1918
This is a thorough, academic study of the New Zealand military contribution to the war, on all fronts where New Zealanders were to be found, including the various locations in the Middle East as well as the Western Front. This is a long way from a dry appreciation of the New Zealand story: the book is written in very much the same way as Tim Cook's epic two volume set on the Canadian Corps on the Western Front (q.v. in The Collection) - intertwining a formal history of the subject with personal stories. Very effective.
