This is a complete autobiography of the subject, only a small part of it relates to the war in Mesopotamia and there is absolutely no description of the fighting. However, we have brought the book into The Collection because it describes the life of a Victorian/Edwardian professional, in this case a doctor, who was born in India, had a great love for the country and its people. So it is useful in trying to get into the mindset of a particular type of Great War officer, this sort of man formed a significant part of the officer corps in the war, at least at the beginning.
