This book was originally published in the USA by the Naval Institute Press, Annapolis. It analyses the naval war in Northern European waters following Jutland. A popular misconception is that Jutland marked the end of the operational career of the German High Seas Fleet and the beginning of a period of stagnation for it and its opponents, the Royal Navy's Grand Fleet and the Russian Baltic Fleet. This book corrects that misconception.
