In this book, which of course is written in French, Pedroncini looks into the causes of the events and the nature of the French Army mutinies which occurred in the Spring of 1917. He uses a unique range of sources (such as letters intercepted by the Postal Control, officers' reports, investigations by inspectors and special commissioners, and the minutes from the Council of War) to explore the crisis of discipline within the French Military.
