This book was translated from the German by Thomas P Iredale. Clearly, this is an important book for the Collection. Our resources on Gallipoli are reasonably extensive, but from the Allied side. This book greatly enhances the resources we have in volumes dealing with the Turkish aspect of the campaign. The book fulfils this role splendidly, it is well researched dealing as it does not only with the campaign itself, but also with the build-up of the Ottoman forces, particularly the army, which preceded the outbreak of war.
