This book was edited by Gary Sheffield. It is an important addition to the primary source records of the First World War and the later activities of the Haig Family. De Pree was a notable soldier in his own right. He was a nephew of |Haig. This book includes letters and other writings by both men. De Pree played a major role in the planning of the Battle of Cambrai. He was controversially sacked as a Brigade Commander in 1918, but later exonerated and given another brigade.
